ABSTRACT
The Visual Field Interpreter ADx facilitates a rapid analysis and characterization of the visual field profile of patients with ocular and / or neurological diseases. The ADx program will read the visual fields profiles and note different types of defects for different patients. Determination of accurate visual fields analysis using ADx will be compared to manual analysis and diagnosis techniques currently in use. The ADx is designed to provide automated interpretation assistance of visual fields data.
The analysis strategy of ADx is based on mimicking the Opthamologist and Optometrist in their use of visual fields data rules which will be programmed in an artificial intelligence paradigm “Rough Set Theory”. The rich mathematical basis of rough set theory provides a capability for fine tuning of the ADx performance. The use of a rough set theory based ADx is expected to improve patieint care and provide an efficient method for clinicians to interpret visual field data. ADx will provide a more precise, fast and efficient method of visual field analysis assistant which is currently not available.
